Kota Permai GCC named Malaysia's best golf course at 2017 World Golf Awards
Kota Permai Golf & Country Club (KPGCC) successfully defended the coveted title of Best Golf Course in Malaysia at the recent 2017 World Golf Awards ceremony held at the La Manga Club in Spain.
After months of balloting worldwide and facing fierce competition from other top clubs in the country, KPGCC trumped 20 nominees all vying for the prestigious award. This latest award makes it a total of three Malaysia’s Best Golf Course honours bagged by KPGCC at the World Golf Awards with the first being bestowed in 2014.
“It is truly an honour and a privilege to be able to stand tall once again on the celebrated World Golf Awards stage and accept the award for Malaysia’s Best Golf Course for the second year running. We are so very proud of this prestigious achievement, and the fact that we have successfully defended our title after the many months of battle with our other fierce competitors back home who were all vying for the same distinction.
Indeed, such recognition is only conceivable through the priceless effort put in by my team, the invaluable support we have received from our club members, business partners, families and friends, and the strong drive produced through friendly rivalry with our competitors in the hopes of coming out tops,” said Senior Group General Manager of Club Operations & Townships Tang Meng Loon in his acceptance speech.
Designed by Ross Watson, KPGCC’s 18-hole masterpiece of a golf course features pristinely manicured lawns set over undulating terrain and poses challenging hazards that astounds both the veteran and the novice.
Located within the mature town of Kota Kemuning, which is developed by Gamuda Land, the 18-hole KPGCC championship course is known as one of the best golf courses in Asia. It has won numerous local and international awards including HAPA Golf Course Of The Year at the Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards (HAPA) Regional Series Awards 2016 – 2018.
Besides golf facilities, the club also features sporting facilities, which include an Olympic-sized swimming pool, eight badminton courts, two squash courts and three fully lit tennis courts – all available for daily use. Health and recreational facilities include spa pools, sauna and steam bath, aromatherapy massage, fully-equipped gymnasium and various activities such as taekwondo, yoga, Zumba, aikido and wing chun are available at the club.
