Kelly Tan Regains Full Playing Status on LPGA Tour
After a gruelling eight rounds held over two weeks at two different sites on the Alabama Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Malaysia’s Kelly Tan emerged tied 12th on 13-under in the LGPA Q-Series, retaining her LPGA Tour playing status for 2022.
The 28-year-old Olympian from Batu Pahat lost her playing privileges when she failed to make it in the top-100 of the Race to CME Globe ranking, finishing in 140th spot. Not content with her conditional status, which would have allowed her to play in a limited number of events, Kelly decided to return to Q School to regain her full playing status. The 2022 LPGA Tour calendar features 34 events with a record prize purse of US$85.7 mil.
Kelly’s 2021 season included 12 cuts in 14 starts, with her best finish being tied 22nd at the LOTTE Championship, earning US$223,397 for the season. So far, she has made US$680,394 in career earnings on tour.
Her best career finish was tied fourth at the 2014 Marathon Classic Presented by Owens Corning & O-I. She has one Symetra Tour victory at the 2019 Florida’s Natural Charity Classic.
