Great Turnout for the 3rd Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament 2021 in Bukit Beruntung GC
The 3rd Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament 2021 which was held at Bukit Beruntung Golf Club, Rawang on Sunday welcomed back golfers onto the greens for an enjoyable round of golf. Participants included golfers from the state’s tourism industry, top management in the private sector, celebrity golfers, tournament sponsors, golf enthusiasts, and members from government-linked companies.
The 18-hole tournament, sanctioned by the Malaysian Golf Association, was officiated by Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, the Menteri Besar Selangor, who showcased his golfing skills on the challenging layout together with the other 133 participants.
The tournament was an excellent way to strengthen existing relationships and nurture new ones in a competitive yet enjoyable setting.
During prize-giving, Selangor State’s Executive Council Member of Tourism and Environment, Hee Loy Sian said, “Having taken a step into the Phase 4 of National Recovery Plan, it is the right time to reset the tourism industry in Selangor, and, revive golf tourism to its glory days.
“Golf tourism poses a vast potential in drawing a significant number of tourists into the State, as well as contributes prominently towards the State’s economy. Golf has emerged as one of the fastest-growing tourism trends, and Tourism Selangor has done an outstanding job with its various initiatives, including hosting the 3rd Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament 2021.”
The State of Selangor through Tourism Selangor is committed to exploring the opportunities and further leveraging via sports and golf tourism, as it plays a key role in fuelling the State’s economy through domestic tourism. This tourism segmentation does not only benefit golf operators — retail, accommodation, hospitality and transportation providers will also attain a positive impact from the travels. The buzz created from golf events will draw the tourists’ attention to nearby tourist attractions such as the ones near to the Tournament’s venue in Rawang; Taman Eko Rimba Kanching and Taman Eko Rimba Komanwel.
