Ladies Asian Tour (LAT) Series, organised by the Asia Golf Leaders Forum (AGLF), a non-profit organisation, will offer the winner of this week’s Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship a spot in its flagship event, Hana Financial Group Championship, officials announced today.

In line with the vision created by The R&A and Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation for the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific championship, LAT Series is also committed to providing another opportunity to further develop the potential of the region’s most promising female golfers and unearth talents, including Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit, Atthaya Thitikul and Philippines’ Yuka Saso.

Atthaya and Saso played in the inaugural Hana Financial Group Championship in 2019 and have gone on to achieve major championship success this year.

The prestigious LAT Series, Hana Financial Group Championship returned to South Korea in September and welcomed the presence of several international golfers, including New Zealand’s Lydia Ko, Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games bronze medallist, world number seven Minjee Lee of Australia, who clinched her first Major title in France in July, and American Yealimi Noh.

Several promising Asian young golfers, including Singapore’s Shannon Tan, Malaysia’s Norezrine Alisa and Noraishah Alisa, Thailand’s Sherman Santiwiwatthanaphong, Jaravee Boonchant and Onkanok Soisuwan were also invited for the tournament.

Apart from receiving an invitation to play at the LAT Series, Hana Financial Group Championship, the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship winner also gets to play in two major championships – The AIG Women’s Open and The Amundi Evian Championship. She will also earn an exemption for the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.

Paul Park, Secretary-General of the AGLF, said: “We are looking forward to the start of this week’s Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship as we are excited to witness more emerging young talents.

“LAT Series will continue to work with our valued partners, The R&A and Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation to create more opportunities for these young prospects to shine on the world stage, including the planned APAC World Cup of Golf in Asia in 2022.”

The Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship tees off at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday.
