Europe’s Best Juniors Prepare for Faldo Series Grand Final Return

The best junior golfers from the UK and Europe are preparing to follow in the footsteps of some of golf’s biggest stars ahead of the Faldo Series Europe Grand Final starting at Brocket Hall today.

 

 

65 elite junior golfers, from both the 2020 and 2021 seasons, will take inspiration from established Series alumni before looking to create their own history at the dual event, with both Europe Grand Finals being played simultaneously on The Melbourne Course.

 

 

This year’s Europe Grand Final sees the celebration of 25 years of competition for the Series after it was founded by Sir Nick in 1996, with the aim of creating a junior golf legacy that lasts a lifetime and develops ‘tomorrow’s champions’.

 

 

To add support to the celebrations former Tour Professional, Nick Dougherty, the very first Faldo Series Europe Champion, welcomed players to the venue at the opening dinner on Sunday. Looking back on the Series’ journey and his experiences playing at the events, the Sky Sports Golf commentator and presenter said, “It’s an honour to return to the Series and support the event which helped me so much through my development and journey to the Tour. The talent of the players continues to impress me, and opportunities like the Faldo Series providing new, competitive playing experiences that test and develop the aspiring competitors is fantastic in helping to build a better and brighter game.

 

“I look forward to following the event and will no doubt be seeing some of these names over the next few years.”

 

 

The Series is now widely recognised as the largest and most successful global junior event, having expanded globally, and supported the development of some of the very best stars in today’s game, including Major Champion winners Rory McIlroy, Danny Willet and Yani Tseng.

 

Most recently, Faldo celebrated the inaugural Faldo Hurricane Series Grand Final at Barefoot Country and Golf Resort in Myrtle Beach which concluded a momentous debut season. It was a welcomed return to Grand Final action on American soil following the launch of the five-year partnership between the Faldo Series and the well-established Hurricane Junior Golf Tour to create new, competitive opportunities for juniors in America.

 

In light of the momentum around the junior game and the strength of the Faldo Series Nick Faldo, said: “The return of the Grand Final means a lot to all of us at the Series. It is what makes the events so special, providing the unique opportunities and platform to show what the next generation of golfers can do.

 

“It is amazing to see Nick return to the event and support this year’s players, 25 years on since his own win. We set up the Faldo Series to create more competitive opportunities for juniors and to build a legacy, and to see Nick return to support the next wave of players coming through it really shows just how far we have come.”

 

The 23rd  and 24th Faldo Series Europe Grand Final will begin on the 25^th of October and will live stream all three days of the action to allow fans to watch and support from afar.
