Ervin Chang Wins Singapore Amateur Open
National player, Ervin Chang went down in history to become the first Malaysian to capture the Singapore Amateur Open title in the modern history of the Championship earning also a coveted spot in the Singapore Open in January 2019.
Ervin Chang is also one of the national players identified to play in the Asian Games, which will be held in August this year at the Pondok Indah Golf & Country Club, Jakarta, Indonesia together with Adam Arif Madzri, Muhammad Afif Mohd Fathi, Rhaasrikanesh Kanavathi, Ashley Lau Wen Jen, Natasha Andrea Oon And Winnie Ng Yu Xuan.
Ervin carded rounds of 62, 68, 65 and 72 for a 13-under-267 total, 5 strokes ahead of Singapore’s James Leow who carded a total score of 272. Chinese-Taipei’s Wei-Hsuan Wang finished third with a 272 total.
The Malaysian Team comprising of Ervin Chang and Muhammad Afif Fathi also won the Team Event after scoring a combined score of 413 strokes ahead of the Singaporean team who scored 416 strokes. Thailand was third with 417 strokes.
