Thailand Championship to be Played at Phoenix Club in Pattaya
The second edition of the Ladies European Thailand Championship will be held on 21-24 June 2018, at Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club, Pattaya in Chonburi with the total purse money of 300,000 Euro (appx. 12 million Baht).
The inaugural tournament created global headlines when Thai prodigy Atthaya Thitikul became the youngest ever winner on the tour aged 14 years, four months and 19 days, in July 2017.
Ladies European Tour Chairman, Mr Mark Lichtenhein stated, “We are delighted to be returning to Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club after the incredible drama of Atthaya’s victory last year and it was fantastic to see her go on to secure another dramatic victory in the inaugural Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Golf Championship in February. I am sure this is a strong omen for the relationship between the Ladies European Tour and women’s golf in Thailand.”
LET Tournament Director Mr Joao Paulo Pinto added, “I believe we made a big step in launching the Ladies European Thailand Championship in 2017 and I am looking forward to another fantastic week in Pattaya. After a tremendous sporting success story last year, we are all looking forward to the next exciting chapter.”
Similar to last year, the field of 126 competitors will include 70 LET members, 40 Thai LPGA members and 16 invitation spots, playing for a 300,000 Euro purse (appx. 12 million Baht) and Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking Points.
