PGA TOUR Series-China announced the first eight of its 14 events in 2018 at the season-opening Chengdu Championship, which tees off at Luxehills International Country Club on Thursday and is followed by next week’s Chongqing Championship at Poly Golf Club.

The newly released schedule includes two events in May, two in June and two in July. The Changsha Championship at Hunan Dragon Lake International Golf Club in Hunan province from May 3-6 will be followed by the Haikou Championship at 3 Miles Golf Club on tropical Hainan island from May 10-13.

In June, the Guilin Championship at Guilin Landscape Golf Club in Guangxi province and the Kunming Championship at Yulongwan Golf Club in southwestern Yunnan province will also be held back to back, from June 7-10 and June 14-17 respectively.

The north-eastern province of Shandong will host two events in July when the Yantai Championship at Nanshan International Golf Club from July 12-15 is followed by the Qingdao Championship at Tiger Beach Golf Club in Qingdao from July 19-22.

“Now that our new season is about to begin, there is an underlying excitement and we’re delighted to announce the first eight events of the PGA TOUR Series-China season,” said Paul Johnson, Executive Vice President of International Tours and Tournaments, PGA TOUR.

“With this new season upon us, the players are ready to go, knowing if they play well throughout 2018, the Web.com Tour is in their future and then, hopefully, the PGA TOUR. The fact that three out of every four players on the PGA TOUR are former Web.com Tour players speaks to how competitive and strong the Web.com Tour is,” Johnson added.

The top five on the PGA TOUR Series-China Order of Merit will earn Web.com Tour membership. China’s Zecheng Dou and Xinjun Zhang, who finished first and fifth in the 2016 money list, played on last year’s Web.com Tour and progressed to become current PGA TOUR players.

Every tournament on this year’s PGA TOUR Series-China will offer RMB 1.5 million, a 25-percent increase over purse levels from 2016.

The PGA TOUR established PGA TOUR Series-China in 2014 as its third international developmental tour, following in the footsteps of PGA TOUR Latinoamerica and the Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada. Since its inception, PGA TOUR Series-China players have received Official World Golf Ranking points for top finishes at official tournaments.
