TPC KL’s West Course Named Best Golf Course in Malaysia at World Golf Awards

CEO of TPCKL’s Steven Thielke received Malaysia’s Best Golf Course 2019 Award for the West Course at WGA.

TPC Kuala Lumpur was recently affirmed as Malaysia’s Best Golf Course at the 6th World Golf Awards gala held in Abu Dhabi. The award is specifically attributed to TPC Kuala Lumpur’s West Course, a par 72 course that spans 6,405 metres. Originally opened in 1991, the multi-award winning West Course underwent a total makeover in 2008 and another round of enhancements in 2018 to deliver top-notch playing conditions.

“This is the best of times for TPC Kuala Lumpur! A big credit goes to the Golf Course team led by our Head of Agronomy; Mohd Nizam Othman for their relentless hard work and dedication in delivering a world-class golfing experience every time,” said Steven Thielke, Chief Executive Officer of TPC Kuala Lumpur.

TPC Kuala Lumpur’s West Course has successfully staged numerous international tournaments by the PGA Tour and European Tour, and graced by world-class players such as Justin Thomas, Phil Mickelson, Ricky Fowler, Ernie Els and many more.

“It is an exciting milestone for the club thanks to everyone’s support. TPC Kuala Lumpur will continue to promote golf tourism in Malaysia with world-class golfing services and experience,” he added.

Officially launched in 2014, World Golf Awards aims to drive standards within the golf tourism industry by acknowledging, celebrating and rewarding excellent courses and golf destinations globally. The list of winners is selected based on votes cast by the public and professionals working with the golf industry in more than 100 countries for a duration of 8 months.

Owned by Sime Darby Property, TPC Kuala Lumpur has set an impressive track record with its multi-award winning milestones. Since becoming part of the highly acclaimed TPC Network, TPC Kuala Lumpur has made it into the World’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses, Top 100 Platinum Golf and Country Clubs of the World and Top 100 Golf Courses in Asia.
